The “14th Chambers County Korean War Veterans Appreciation Luncheon,” co-hosted by Ajin USA and Wooshin USA, was successfully held on Saturday, July 18, at the Bottling Plant Event Center in Opelika, Alabama. The event was attended by Korean War veterans and their families, as well as figures from local government, politics, and education.

The event began with welcoming remarks addressed to the Korean War veterans and guests on behalf of Chairman Seo Joong-ho of Ajin USA and Wooshin USA. The organizers expressed their deep respect and gratitude to the veterans who dedicated themselves to defending freedom during the Korean War.

The occasion held special significance as it coincided with the lead-up to the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, highlighting that the freedom and prosperity enjoyed today were built upon the noble sacrifices of military personnel and veterans.

Korean War veterans Edward Ray Anderson, Leon Davis Brown, Frank Gaither, and Roy Dobbs, along with Mrs. Phyllis Dobbs, graced the event with their presence.

A moment of silence was observed in memory of Korean War veteran Lanny Bledsoe, who passed away on April 1, 2026. Attendees honored the late veteran’s sacrifice and dedication, offering their deepest condolences to his wife, Mrs. Bledsoe, and his son, Tommy Bledsoe, who were present at the event.

Many key figures from the local community also attended. Notable guests included Alabama State Senator Randy Price; Ansley Emfinger, Senior Project Manager, and Bruce Emfinger, Chairman of the Board, from the Chambers County Development Authority; and Kendall Andrews, Acting Mayor of the City of Valley.

Representatives from the education sector included Professor Dong Woo Yu and Dr. Phil Chansler from Auburn University, as well as Jenny Lee and Okyeon Shin, coordinators for the university’s Korea Corner. Professor Daewoo Park, Dean of the College of Business, represented Auburn University at Montgomery.

Representatives from local media and students from Kyungil University also attended to express their gratitude to the veterans.

During the remarks, Alabama State Senator Randy Price emphasized the sacrifices made by veterans and the importance of the ROK-U.S. alliance. Subsequently, Korean War veteran Mr. Roy Dobbs took the podium to share his wartime memories and express his gratitude for the event, deeply moving the audience.

Cultural performances were also featured. The Lawrenceville Symphony Orchestra, led by Music Director Park Pyung-kang, performed a tribute for the veterans, while students from Daegon High School presented a special performance to convey their gratitude and respect.

The event concluded with the presentation of plaques of appreciation and commemorative gifts to the Korean War veterans. Attendees once again offered thunderous applause and expressed their heartfelt thanks to the veterans who had dedicated their youth to defending freedom.
